The Malloy – Boxeur des Rues brand is inspired by the street boxers who took part in the French uprisings in Marseilles and is also a reference to the American Dream claimed by A. J. Malloy. Boxeur de Rues, literally translated from French, means street boxer. So this brand is inspired by a French sport halfway between classical English boxing and oriental martial arts. Historically, France was fertile ground for this combination of two disciplines, due to the knowledge that French sailors brought back from ports in South East Asia and the Far East. The new techniques were then used in the increasingly frequent fights in one of the most ill-famed ports of Europe, but they were also displayed in the fight clubs where illegal matches were heavily bet upon. Thus the name of street fighters. Now the brand is used for lines of sportswear and streetwear. A. J. Malloy, considered the inventor of the casual look, is not a brand of European origin. It stems from Nashville, Tennessee, in the USA. At the beginning, the company was producing uniforms and work clothes. Then the design of the A.J. Malloy Corp turns to sportswear to the point of being identified with a look for leisure time, inspired by the American style of life from the 50s onwards. The heart of Malloy business now beats in New York but the claim chosen for the company’s lines of clothing shows their faith in their American origin. Today Malloy is above all “wear the American dream”.
